Before Samanea was created, the land held the quiet ruins of an old seaside cottage. We chose to restore it with its original materials—bricks, stone, and traditional cement tiles—and applied the same approach across the resort to blend seamlessly with nature.
Surrounded by mangroves, tropical gardens, and the sea, Samanea was built with a deep respect for its natural setting. This unique environment inspires us to focus on sustainability and preserve the beauty that makes our resort so special.

Nestled along Cambodia’s southern coast, Kep is a charming seaside town with a rich colonial heritage. Established in 1908 as Kep-sur-Mer, it became a favorite retreat for French officials and Cambodian elites. Visitors can explore colonial villas, stroll through Kep National Park, and enjoy the serene coastal atmosphere.
Kep is famous for its vibrant culinary scene, especially the Crab Market, where blue crab is stir-fried with fresh green Kampot peppercorns. Although known as Kampot pepper, most plantations are actually closer to Kep, making the town the perfect base to explore the surrounding countryside and taste authentic Cambodian flavors.
